My blog will consist of stories about my homesteading and life in Alaska, as well, as how to get started homesteading on a very limited budget. Not to mention, hints, tips, tutorials and of course!! Mistakes!!
My blog covers everything from cooking and food preservation and storage to travel to and from the homestead. The freighting of supplies and materials and the repair of broken equipment.
As building materials increase in cost, and the economy worsens, I began milling more and more logs into building lumber. While it is still not cheap to do, taking into account gas and oil and wear on the saw, it has saved me in the cost and trouble of hauling lumber up to the homestead.
Plus there is the satisfaction of doing it yourself.
Recently I built a milling station, were I can mill my logs more efficiently, and more importantly.... with greater comfort on my back.
Here is a video of the construction of the milling station. I hope you enjoy....
